The Bronte Friends committee comprises volunteer parents and teachers who work together to enhance and enrich the social and community life of the School. The group helps to plan fun, exciting events for children and parents. Some events have a fundraising element, and the Friends from time to time are thereby able to make donations, either for a charitable cause or for some extra resources for the School.

Regular events include pancake races, Easter raffle, a quiz night, mothers’ day secrets room, days for “Bad Hair” and “Silly Socks”, a Year 6 theatre trip and the Summer Fayre.

Some examples of extra resources donated by the Friends are: whiteboards, cameras, garden play equipment, theatre tickets, story sacks and history artefacts

It is wonderful when parents get involved in the School, and all help given is much appreciated. There are lots of ways for even the busiest of parents to join in:

  • Join the committee (one meeting per term, usually at 4pm on a Friday ) to discuss events and ideas
  • Spend a couple of hours helping out at an event, such as the Summer Fayre
  • Pass on new ideas to the committee, either directly to a committee member or via the school office or email
  • Donate prizes or gifts, e.g., for Fayre stalls, or the Mothers’ Day secrets
