We’d like to take you on a tour of Bronte…
A Family History
Bronte School is rather unusual. Since its foundation in 1905, it has been run by just two families. William and Florence Vine established their own school in Bronte Villas, Parrock Road, Gravesend for the education of their own children and others.
A Family Atmosphere
The whole school attends regular Morning Assemblies, when every child from three years upwards joins in hymns, prayers, thoughts, awards of merits and, often, singing Happy Birthday to a blushing child or member of staff.
Joyful Learning
Our long-standing Latin motto is ‘Labor Ipse Voluptas’ which means ‘Enjoy work for its own sake’. Every child – and any grownup – knows that you can learn far more when you enjoy the lesson.
Modest Class Sizes
The ideal class should be small enough for every child to get regular individual attention. It should also be big enough to be stimulating and lively. Where appropriate, particularly in the younger classes, classroom assistants will ensure that each child receives the individual attention he or she needs.
Growing Up at Bronte
Most children join us in the Kindergarten, where they are introduced to all the areas of learning associated with the Early Years Foundation Stage and encouraged to develop good social skills and a sense of consideration for others.
The Curriculum and Beyond…
We offer a wide range of subjects and activities which go far beyond the basic requirements of the National Curriculum. For example, we offer not one language but four: Latin, French, German and Spanish.
