In April 2014, I joined Bronte School as Proprietor and Headmaster, and it has always been wonderful to be part of a school with such strong educational traditions and record, as well having a spirit of great warmth and care. It has been especially enriching to work in junior education, having mostly served in senior schools.
After an early career as an army officer, I became a teacher, first at Eton College and then, as Deputy Head, at Wells Cathedral School, before becoming in 2000 Headmaster of Pocklington School, York, and in 2008 of The King’s School, Canterbury. From 2010, I undertook two international headships, in Dubai and in Washington DC, before embarking on the Bronte acquisition process. I was Headmaster of Bronte School for three years, from April 2014 until April 2017, when Emma Wood took over as Headmistress of the School, and Director of the Nursery, and with my work concentrating on governance, strategy and finance.
I am married to Fenella, and we have three children.
